I'm looking for someone to tell me why,
Why you've left me here alone to die
Why can't you just let me run away?
Why must I suffer through another day?

I've never done a single thing wrong
My heart is good and my will is strong
But still you're out to beat me down
My life shatters as I'm thrown around

All I want to do is get out of this place
What's left of this life? I won't leave a trace...
Can't I escape? Why won't you let me?
Broken, forsaken, not all that I can be

Your abuse is too much, I'm failing inside
You're in control, I'm just along for the ride
But now times have changed, I'm in the driver's seat
I'm so tired of suffering this cruel defeat

I'm free of your tyranny, your whim and your will
I'm no longer the one whose spirit you'll kill
I won't look back as I leave you behind
Alone in the darkness, a nightmare in my mind.

'Kay, before I get a bunch of worried comment asking if I'm okay and if this was based off of real-life events... NO. I've never experienced any kind of abuse in my life whatsoever, so there's no need to worry... This was totally random. :hmm:


This is what I get when I go overboard and listen to way too much KoRn... :giggle: It's practically all I've been listening to for the past two months, and I think their depressing lyrics are starting to rub off on me! :XD: This is still probably the best attempt at poetry I've ever made though, I usually can't even crank out a few rhyming words... O_O


I really like the last stanza for some reason... =D And keep in mind that this a treat -- you'll rarely see poetry from Cap'n Fyrien. xD


When I think about it, this kinda reminds me of my parents' relationship before the divorce... No physical abuse involved, but my dad whittled down my mom's spirit until she finally gave up and left.


In a way, I guess this is vent art. :hmm:

i was wondering if i culd use this to put up on 1 of my accounts sumwhere lik gaia or myyearbook cuz my friend and i r trying to make out profiles support the stop of any kind of abuse and i think this represents the abuse and then the rise over it which is wat we want,so if it is ok with u may i use it?? ill give full credit to u, if no thats ok ^^

You actually really have a good flare for poetry. I remember having to write poetry for school (thank god we didn't have to do any this year) and it took me forever to come up with stuff that actually made sense but once I had finished it was amazing. :B

It really makes me think of song lyrics for some reason. You should try writing song lyrics and end up being FAMOUS! :slow: Aha jokes. But great job Jarrett. I do hope you feel better now. =3

We had to write poetry for school in 7th grade, and I fucking detested it... And I mean to the point where I almost wrote a not-so-nice poem directed towards my bitchy English teacher... :P


What's hilarious is that I think listening to music almost 24/7 has given me some talent towards writing poetry -- that's why my poem resembles song lyrics... :XD: I found a random old poem I saved on my computer last year, and it was so unoriginal and pathetic that I couldn't stand to read past the second stanza. :O


There's other ways of getting famous too, y'know... Like MASS MURDER! 8D
